Mapping Tools
I had no knowledge of how mapping was carried out, I thought I'd be able to just import the data the Council sent me to Google Maps and Viewranger. It turns out there are loads of different ways to identifying locations. There's me thinking it was just latitude and longitude.
I ended up figuring out the data I was sent was in OSGB36 National Grid Eastings and Northings format. The tricky thing was that most tools and sites are setup for US and other country formats/data. Anyway, after trying lots of different free tools I came across 'Grid InQuest II'

This allowed me to import said data, then transform it into ETRS89GD format which is using latitude and longitude. I'm not going to pretend I understand all this, however I grasped it enough to convert the data into a format things like Google Maps understands. If I've made a mistake then do please get in touch!
